Dr. Tovey taught philosophy at the University of New Hampshire until her retirement. She is the author of "Shakespeare's Apology for Imitative Poetry: The Tempest and the Republic" (Interpretation, 1983); "Portia's Suitors" (with Richard Kuhns, Philosophy and Literature, 1989); and "Wisdom and the Law: Thoughts on the Political Philosophy of Measure for Measure" (in Shakespeare's Political Pageant, ed. Joseph Alulis and Vickie Sullivan, Rowman & Littlefield, 1996).
