Dr. Whalen is Associate Professor of English and Dean of the Faculty at Hillsdale College.
He is the author of The Consolation of Rhetoric: John Henry Newman and the Realism of Personalist Thought (1994).
He has also published articles and essays on Chaucer, Shakespeare, Dickens, and liberal education. He, his wife, and their nine children live in Michigan.
