Being a small, independent press, ISI Books is especially sensitive to the needs and pressures of the independent bookseller. The relationship between the independent publisher and bookstore is a vital one, crucial to the survival of our fragile "republic of letters." Literary tastes and standards are everywhere being undermined for a host of commercial and political reasons. We seek through our line of books to resist the pressure to compromise standards and taste, and look to the independent bookstore as a friendly redoubt for quality titles considering afresh perennial ideas in light of contemporary debates.
